Patrick Adams : Patrick Adams presents Phreek
UK : Phreek
Vinyl Album =
£12.99

Classic disco album from one of the biggest disco producers ever to grace planet earth… Patrick Adams. Self penned ‘heavy weight champion producer of the world’, he worked with the likes of Sister Sledge, Loletta Holloway, Bumblebee Unlimited and later Coolio and Eric B & Rakim. However, ‘PHREEK’ is the only album produced under his own name. Originally released in 1979, this fantastic LP features the original version of ‘Weekend’ (famously covered by Class Action) plus the incredible 10 minute epic, and Theo Parrish favourite, ‘I’m A Big Freak (R-U-1-2)’. Dirty, percussive, hypnotic, futuristic disco music, that makes you move all night!

Ronny & Renzo : Broken Fingers
UK : King Kung Foo
12" =
£9.99
In Stock
onny & Renzo, also known as the uncrowned "kings of downtempo" or King Kung Foo's official ambassadors if you prefer, are back. Broken Fingers is another great piece of drum-driven electronic dance music. The dark & gloomy intro with the ARP's resonating acidic bass functions as an alarmbell. It almost seems to introduce the other instruments one by one. Building layer after layer and slowly rising the tension, Broken Fingers summits when all the arrangement parts mysteriously come together with an ear-licking precision. It doesn't need comparisons with other well known songs or genres. It is unique in its kind and with its own personality and character that builds each and every time it is played and listened to. Jonny Nash who is also known by his work with the mighty Discosession and his Sombrero Galaxy-partner Tako Reyenga are two highly gifted musicians who pull you into their cosmos like a super-massive black hole. And last but not least in our philosophy, cutting edge art work courtesy of UK artist Nick Veasey for his ethically challenging but visually pleasing vibrant x-ray photography cover art, which enhances this deluxe sleeved 12" vinyl release.

'It's a new sound from an old town, Funkineven, make your heart pound' ... Eglo records reaches it's tenth release, with another acid dripping banger courtesy of West London's Funkineven aka Stevie J. Taking things a little harder than on his previous two records, Heart Pound jacks its way across the dancefloor, in a collision of Chi-town and Ldn beat based funk. Another Space comes even harder, drawing on a touch of early rave and hardcore, it's twenty ten... it just went on a journey before it got here.

Various Artists : Spatial Disco 2
UK : Electunes
Vinyl Album =
£12.99
In Stock
The French were pretty central to the disco explosion, having given us the word (le discothèque) and the concept. The musicians on Roger Tokarz’ library label ‘Tele Music’, were also some of the main players powering the French disco scene. One such artist is Sauveur Mallia, who is responsible for the library-only Spatial & Co. Series of LPs which this compilation draws from. Some of the tracks on here featured heavily on TV thrillers and space programmes. This is an absolutely essential collection of wobbling analog synth excursions; warm, spacy pads hover over clanging industrial percussion sounds; primitive electro vibes exude from squelching leads, throbbing bass and a robotic beat; and the whole thing is interspersed with a mash of pulsing, popping, thrashing, clanging, crunching, bubbling, aural textures. Fans of electronic music take note, there is literally something for everyone here – it’s a little bit disco, a little bit electro, a little bit industrial, a little bit ambient. Whatever it is, this is an undisputed classic, and sure to sell out quick. Grab a copy while you can!

Dominik Von Senger : No Name

Brand new release on the celebrated Golf Channel label which is already causing interest after a handful of test pressing were handed out late last year.
Dominik Von Senger may be a mystery to most but he's been recording 80's Kraut Rock / Electronic work that are favourites with Kraut-rock and Balearic heads.
Wonderfully melodic, the track takes it's cue from the fertile era of Deutsch Muzika and updates it for the dancefloors of today.

It seems like an age since the last one but Firecracker are finally ready to drop their 6th release, and lordy it's huge! A four-track EP from premiere Ukrainian electronic artist Vakula that's crammed with analogue rawness, soviet synths, sci-fi soundscapes and a Detroit state of mind. His music sits perfectly with the current early house revival, along with his Afro-American influence, but in truth it’s much closer to the Ukrainian land and its culture. Music which is simple and melodious as Taras Shevchenko poetry and fat as Ukrainian lard. So even when his drum machine starts to beat in a Theo Parrish style, we still hear a story that's far away from America - "when I was 13 I shepherded outside the village"… And that is what Konotop House is!

Magic Wand is a new edit label project from IS IT BALEARIC

Not just another load of disco re-edits but a collection of tracks that have had the magic wand waved over them to give them a new lease of life. Dj Steef from France lovingly transforms Black Sabbath's little known 'Planet Caravan' into something truly balearic. Coyote respectfully add a little dubstyle weight to Randy Crawfords 'You Might Need Somebody', while on the flipside, Manchester's 'Be' tunes up Richard Bears 'Sunshine Hotel' and finally, Paul Hardcastle's 'Dolores' gets the Coyote treatment becoming an 80s beachbar anthem.

Yet another unmissable, under the counter trio of cuts, lovingly crafted from the most unusual of sample sources, combined with squeeky clean production values that make this a dancefloor dead cert.

Moonshine bears more than a passing resemblance to Carl Craig's monumental 'Throw' and ploughs an equally devastating groove, utilising, of all things a chunk of Glitter Band's 'Makes You Blind'
On the flip, the off-kilter but irresistible 'Revenge Of The Rock-O-Mites' is a re-imagining of the lead track from The Incredible Rock City Band's impossibly rare Electro-Funk EP from '83 & sounds like Allan Parsons remixed by Dexter.

Finally 'Why D'You Run Away' skillfully reinterprets elements of Flash & The Pan's 'Ayla' and is more than likely to be blasting out of many an Adriactic boat party this summer

TBD Classics is the flagship release of the new re-edit imprint, furnished by NYC's reckless duo TBD, the first installment by TBD's own Justin Vandervolgen; also responsible for the already classic Try to Find Me releases on Golf Channel recordings, drops in right on the heels of the uber massive Get to My Baby TBD extension and dishes out another top notch release. Side A kicks off with "Takes one to Make One" a charging sleazy rock stomper complete with freaky psych vocals, sloppy guitar solo and breakdown that we imagine will bring any party to unseen levels of debauchery. Side B "I Love You" a scorching soulful disco affair with a massive heartbreaking chorus, the kind of classic sound that will stick with you for years to come. TBD Classics have been tested, tried and true in their hallmark Dj sets long before seeing release. Additional Dj support also comes from Eric Duncan, Prins Thomas, Lovefingers and Tim Sweeney.

Balearic Mike : Down To The Sea And Back
UK : Wonk

£14.99

The first thing you need to know is there's Balearic and there's Balearic. The first one everyone with a Geography GCSE and Thomson's 2010 holiday brochure will know, of course. The second is harder to define. It’s perhaps more of a state of mind among a certain type of man (you know the sort: mainly bearded, often with a paunch that says, "I know where the bar is").

Kelvin Andrews and Balearic Mike are two such men. It's no surprise that they do, indeed, know where the bar is, but perhaps more pertinently for the task at hand, they also know where the location of all the good record stores, irrespective of whether they're walking down Wilbraham Road in Chorlton (the magnificent King Bee) or on a romantic weekend with a lover in Prague (Music Antiquariat). They've both got history, see.
Kelvin Andrews has been a member of various nefarious outfits over the years, from teenrave sensations Candyflip, to Sure Is Pure, Sound 5 and, lately, Soul Mekanik (he also helped Robbie Williams write his last two albums, in his spare time, like).
Balearic Mike has been around just as long, firstly as part of the LuvDup crew and then lately as resident expert behind the counter at Manchester's Vinyl Exchange. As collectors and conoisseurs they are pretty much unrivalled. Between them, they are purveyors of what semiologists like to call 'Balearic music', which, 25 years ago in the record boxes of DJ Alfredo in Ibiza's Amnesia club meant everything from Simply Red and Sade to Liaisons Dangeureuses and Farley Jackmaster Funk. These days it could mean a sneaky Jamiroquai B-side or, more worryingly, a European 12-inch adorned with a bleached-blond man dressed as a Space Pirate. Or, in fact, the twelve tracks you'll find nestling snugly together here like dwarves at a Playboy orgy.

Coming off the back of his previous well received 12 "Genius of Time/Tight Genes", Gothenberg exile and current Berlin resident Cloud returns with three blinding tracks. Volume 2 from Do-Over’s re-edit serious features disco edits from Woolfy & DJ Spun. Pure summertime heat for the dancefloor! Speaking of which, Mike B’s Edit on Volume 1 (No Stopping The Slide) was one of the BIG tracks heard throughout this year’s Winter Music Conference in Miami! A step more to the boogie/disco side of things, this series is shaping up to be the one to stay on top of. Just like part 1 these are limited to 1,000 worldwide, which may sound like a lot but if the first one's anything to go by these will fly!

OK....Our friends from the far east are back once again with another quartet of absolutely awesome & well, undiscovered Soul/P-Funk/Electronic/Disco killers. We'd love to give you more info, but our communication with them thus far has been sporadic and from various changing email accounts. Safe to say though, these guys are something else when it comes to unearthing the finest hidden club music in existence.
