An acutely infectious new project from Jesse Hackett of Elmore Judd/Gorillaz/Africa Express, bringing sublimely hypnotic Kenyan grooves into line with a London-centric agenda. Both tracks bobble along with a effortless grace and mesmerizing simplicity, with the bouzouki/likembe interplay of 'Doyoi Nyajo Nam' coolly commanding able asses to the dance, while 'Jalako Onyoono Paka' sits heavy on an infectious mid-tempo Afro-beat groove. There's no denying the charms of these cuts, and it promises great things for the album forthcoming on Brownswood. Aces.

Usually, there is music that is haunting, and music that is danceable. The two are seldom bedfellows. The haunting stuff can usually be found lurking on headphones, or in the bedroom - waiting to be explored in a solitary setting befitting to its pensive nature. The remix is equally brilliant, and takes the tone of the even further into the darkness – suffusing the haunting exoticism of the original release with an evil, moody, electronic moodiness that is absolutely compelling, totally addictive, and STILL suited to the dancefloor. A brilliant little oddball release, and WELL worth acquiring...
