Tarheel Slim : Wildcat Tamer
: Fury

A stone cold classic and totally essential Blues Stomper, comes with the equally awesome flip 'Number 9 Train'. Should never be too far away from the box of any self-respecting R&B DJ!

Eddie Lang : Easy Rockin'
UK : Ron

£6.00

More NOLA Blues and Rhythm from Eddie, and though the title suggests otherwise, there doesn't seem to be anything 'easy' about this drum-heavy, syncopated house-rocker, nothing easy at all...

Roddy Jackson : I've Got My Sights on Someone New
UK : Specialty
7" =
£6.00
In Stock
Fairly unique in his time, Roddy Jackson was a white rock and roll artist who was so enamoured with the black R&B sounds of the day he only saw fit to try and make his own music fit in with those sounds as best as he could, rather than head for more mainstream success. And fit in it did, with his screaming vocals and multi-racial band, the records Roddy cut for Specialty were certainly more at home on the R&B charts than the pop / R&R hit parade... This track is one of his best sides.

Jack Dupree : Stumbling Block

A bona-fide classic, yet again featuring the unrivalled artistry of Mickey Baker on guitar, employing some tremolo effects to lend real depth to a the infectious riff. A key 45 in the 'Blues Rocker' sub-genre, if you don't like this one perhaps that sound isn't for you!

Roy Montrell : That Mellow Saxophone
UK : Specialty
7" =
£6.00
In Stock
Truly unique and truly incredible, Montrell's classic 'Mellow Saxophone' is a rocking, rolling, bopping masterpiece! With it's crazy offbeat rhythm and countering horn line, this is another record which could only come from 1050s New Orleans and yet its still a record which is unlike any other from even that unique and specific melting pot...

The Colemanaires : I Cannot Understand It
UK : Apollo

Lovely upbeat devotional R&B featuring Miss Ann Cole and her family in righteous mood. A record which really makes plain the gospel roots of 60s soul arrangements and phrasing.

Buddy Lucas : I Got Drunk
UK : Groove
7" =
£6.00
Normally Available 7 to 10 working days
2 really superb Jump movers back to back from the always excellent Buddy Lucas. 'I Got Drunk' is a brash stomper with excellent vocals about boozing and being totally sozzled! On the other side, Buddy takes a step back to lead the band and hand vocal duties over to Almeta Stewart.

Eddie Lang : She's Mine All Mine
: Ron
7" =
£6.00

R&B with an emphasis on the R for Rhythm, as you would expect seeing as this is R&B N'awlins style, with that typical gumbo-stewed, down home, Second Line accent... Eddie Langlois might not be as well known as his namesake, the pioneering pre-war Jazz guitarist, but he was still one of the most talented Crescent City axemen of his generation, and that says a lot in itself...

Ronnie Cook : Goo Goo Muck/ The Scotch
USA : Norton
7" =
£6.00
Normally Available 7 to 10 working days
Totally legendary and utterly essential - a classic wailer popularised by the Cramps' cover version in the '80s, psychotic & demented vocals over a spooky bad groove! Great!

Maynie : Ba Ba Ba Ba Ba Ba Bop
UK : Rays
7" =
£6.00

Featuring a male and female vocal duo team up with a distinctly unhinged vocal delivery. The 'Ba Ba Ba Ba Ba Ba Bop' is apparently a new dance, why Maynie & Howie are so excited and insistent about said dance is anyone's guess, but probably best to just do as they say and start moving now!

Clara Streat : Holey Boogie

Sporting a piano led, jaunty shuffle rhythm, laid back call and response vocals and a great sax solo, this one bops along a treat!

Stormy Gayle : Flipsville
UK : Staff

Normally Available 7 to 10 working days
Really cool and moody mid-tempo Rock-a-Billy with a sassy female vocal imploring us to get over to 'Flipsville' ASAP. She needn't have worried too much though, as this atmospheric number sends us straight there from the off.

Earl Gaines/ Little Ike : Now Do You Hear/ She Can Rock
: Penniman
7" =
£6.00
In Stock
Here's a cool one - a raucous early soul rocker which will get the room moving, guaranteed. Not much is known of Issac 'Little Ike' Hamilton' but it's safe to assume he'd heard a few Little Richard records in his time. No bad thing, and though Ike mightn't have had the whole act down, everything about this recording shows clearly why a lack of polish can sometimes be the strongest virtue! Flipside is with Earl Gaines.

Cool, laid back Rhythm and Blues dance track with an excellent stop and start rhythm pattern and of course detailed instructions from the honey-voiced Fenton Robinson.

Eddie Riff : My Baby's Gone Away

Superior Blues Bopper raised markedly above the levels of the standard fare by the unmistakeable guitar of one Mickey Baker. Eddie's vocals are suitably gruff and the arrangement is just perfect too...
