Further Greg Wilson recuts for the Tirk label on 'Credit To The Edit Volume 2 - part 2'. The legend turns his attentions to the 40 Thieves (feat. Qzen) on 'Don't Turn It Off', giving a slick boogie disco workout, while slicing into The Third Degree's 'Mercy' for a percussive disco funk thrill. Best of all is the version of Sugardaddy on the flip, laying down thick red carpet of analog bass to roll out a tidy proto house number with a killer final flourish. Disco pickers should check this !

The 4th edition in Greg Wilson’s Ruff Edits series takes us back to the 70’s with 2 exotic European recordings that made their mark in a big way with black music followers – the relentless bass driven monster cut ‘Crystal World’ by Crystal Grass (‘French Crystal’), alongside the erogenous groove zone of ‘Jungle Fever’ by Chakachas (‘Belgian Jungle’). Both tracks were included in Greg’s recent ‘Music Played In Discotheques’ mix, which has been on heavy rotation in the Silent Disco at Liverpool’s Tate Gallery during recent months.

Shotgun Edits 3 : Shotgun Edits 3
: Shotgun
12" =
£5.99
In Stock
The third in the Shotgun Edits series drops two huge 80's electro-funk re-edits, tweaked and polished by all round b-boy and former graffiti writer Jadell. Jadell has been making beats for years working with the likes of The Jungle Brothers, The Aloof, Jacknife Lee, The Wiseguys and Deadly Avenger. Here he makes a storming return to form, firstly with a dancefloor-friendly remix of the theme tune to the cult film 'The Warriors' - always a b-boy favourite, chopped, beefed-up and ready to rock the jam! On the flip is a rework of another cult film score theme, this time from the 1980 'Shogun Assassin'. Apparently the only vinyl copies of this were limited to giveaways at the original premier, and it has remained an elusive trophy for true b-boys ever since. With bang up-to-date interpretations, these killer jams are raring to go! Don't miss out!

Future collector's items for sure.

Flip over for Lee Douglas of the Rong label with another obscure cut, this time more on an Italo tip. Its pretty uptempo too so the more balearic amongst you can flip it to 33rpm and develop a K habit.

TJ Gorton is a Seattle based producer and DJ who has drawn on his vast knowledge of Disco's dark underbelly to put together these outstanding edits of lesser known, but no less wonderful cuts from the heyday. In the end there were ten. On the final installment in our Rvng of the Nrds 12" series, Parisian patriarch of the edit Pilooski wanders into the dark heart of a Jamaican jungle jam. Birds of paradise squawk and squeak over a ghostly female lament while an echo chambered guitar riff crescendos into haunting hammond swells and a bouncy bass dirge. The one-sided 12" locks on a tumbling tabla and mystic's moan. The b-side features an etching inspired by the whip cream pie scene in Revenge of the Nerds. It's a joke that five people will get. But that's ok, because in the end, the joke was on us. S’ank you, very much.
